Acciona Trasmediterranea is the largest ship owner for both cargo and passenger services linking the Spanish Peninsula with the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. Internationally their market continues to grow, with services to Morocco (via Tangier and Nador) and Algeria (via Ghazaouet and Oran). Trasmediterranea was founded in 1917 in Barcelona with a fleet of 45 ships. From 1978 - 2002, the company was state owned, the fleet was completely renovated, passenger terminals and facilities were dramatically improved and services increased. Trasmediterranea has one of the most modern and best equipped fleets in Spain, using the latest technological advances in security and quality for it’s on board services.
