Acciona Trasmediterranea is the largest ship owner for both cargo and passenger services linking the Spanish Peninsula with the Balearic Islands, the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla. Internationally their market continues to grow, with services to Morocco (via Tangier and Nador) and Algeria (via Ghazaouet and Oran). Trasmediterranea was founded in 1917 in Barcelona with a fleet of 45 ships. From 1978 - 2002, the company was state owned, the fleet was completely renovated, passenger terminals and facilities were dramatically improved and services increased. Trasmediterranea has one of the most modern and best equipped fleets in Spain, using the latest technological advances in security and quality for it’s on board services. High speed ships are used for the shorter trips, where speed and convenience is the objective of the journey. On longer journeys, Trasmediterranea Ferries are equipped to provide the highest levels of comfort so that their passengers find the journey an attractive part of their holiday. Most Transmediterranea Ferries are up to the standard of modern day cruise liners and on board you’ll find a swimming pool, a choice of cabins, bars, restaurants, a cinema, TV room, disco, air conditioning and much more. All of the Trasmediterranea ships (except the Jet Foil high speed ship) have on board shopping where you can choose from a wide range of articles, gifts and press. On routes between Cadiz and the Canary Islands, Algeciras and Ceuta and Almeria, Malaga and Melilla, also on the international routes to Tangiers and Nador, shops offer duty Free goods.
