Information about Travemuende Travemunde is a city in Lübeck in Germany and lies at the mouth of river Trave. The city dates back to the 12th century, when Henry the lion, Duke of Saxony, built a fortress guarding the mouth of river Trave. This was later enriched by the Danes and then became a town in 1317. From 1802 the city has been a popular seaside resort and is currently the largest port in Germany on the Baltic Sea linking Russia, Latvia and Estonia, Finland, Sweden.
